Preparing for a Great Year

I am really excited to get my classroom blog started! This has been a goal of mine for the past two years. I’ve attempted it before, and was minimally successful, but I felt I had limited knowledge about it…but NOW I’m ready to get started…are you ready to join me????

This summer I’m working hard (harder than I think I’ve ever worked before in my life!!!) getting my masters in literacy. What an amazing journey it has been so far! I have already read MANY books, gave several frightening presentations, researched about getting parents involved in literacy at home, and am currently learning how to meet my students’ technology needs in my classroom. And this is just the beginning!!!Summer Views of My Classroom

What I am enjoying most is working with my cohort and professors. I feel that I am learning so much, sharing ideas and gathering even more. I’m already thinking about what this will look like in my classroom next year…the possibilities are endless and exciting!

  1. Heather, I am right there with you, working and hard and loving it. We can do this! We can do all this learning and still be teachers, moms, wives and survive. WooHoo!!

We CAN do it! I love the hard work and all of the challenges…they keep me on my toes, fresh, excited, and engaged. What’s not to be excited about????

    Heather,
Reading your blog was like reading my autobiography! I, too, am excited about the getting my classroom ready for the new school year. I have so many ideas that I don’t know where to begin. i am happy that this paper will be done in enough time to be able to concentrate on our classrooms and prepare for the exicitng year ahead. I am excited to read about what you are going to do in your classroom and how to incorporate one of the million things that we have already learned!

Paper almost done…check! That will definitely free us up to prepare for our upcoming school year. This is usually the time that I am “itchin'” to get back into my classroom. It’s always hard for me to stay away!

Heather – I am so proud of you for tackling a classroom blog! I am excited to read all of the great ideas you will post. Isn’t it crazy how much we have learned already that we can use in our classrooms?? And really this is only the beginning! Best wishes on your blogging adventure!

Looking forward to your journey. Yes, this cohort is amazing and we have learned so much. Isn’t it great to get a perspective on how our students feel (now that we are the students) ?!?1

Being a student has really been an eye-opener for me! It’s served as a nice “tap on my shoulder” to remind me what it’s like to be in their shoes. What a valuable lesson!

Heather, I have to echo all that you said about how much you are learning and how eager you are to see how it all falls into place in your classroom this year! I am excited for that too! Can’t wait to read about your adventures this year!

We are so lucky to be teachers…it’s the best job in the world. I think being a student has really re-opened my eyes to appreciate, even more, the hard work my students do every day.

I’m sure I’ll have some wonderful adventures worth sharing. I wish the same for you! This is the time of the summer that I start to think of all the things I want to put into action, and hope I can do maybe half of them:)

I agree! I love when I can get my students’ work up on the walls. I’m hoping to clear my walls next year and fill it with more of our class charts, writing, book reviews, etc. I’ll have to take pictures and post them so you can see how the room has changed!

Are you planning on doing the blog next year? Possibily even the year after that
